~ The Ascendant Body Attunement approach is to stimulate the body’s natural abilities to heal itself and achieve optimal well-being~ Our bodies are constantly renewing themselves in a process of cellular regeneration. This regeneration happens at a tremendous rate, with cell renewal taking place as much as 710 million times per second in our bodies! When we are young – say, 20 years old – our skin replaces itself every three weeks, a renewal rate that, by age 50, slows down to the still considerable rate of every nine weeks. Indeed, every two years, most cells in our body are completely renewed.
This transformative potential illustrates the immense power we have to heal ourselves at each and every step of our life paths, provided, especially, that we work in harmony with our own unique bodily ecology.
Therapeutic Massage aid this healing process by supporting the cells and tissues of our bodies to rejuvenate themselves.
Therapeutic Massageand Reiki involve: - Melting rigid tissues, causing a gain in the malleability, smoothness, length and tone that are key to accelerating tissue repair. - Activating blood and lymph circulation to flush out toxins, speeding recovery. - Stimulating organ function - through Shiatsu and Reiki in particular - to strengthen the system and stimulate the body’s self-healing potential.
Tailored to the unique needs of each person’s profile and preferences, my sessions employ multiple modalities to address and honor the different dimensions of your body:
Reiki: This is an energy healing modality from Japan, widely known for its ability to relieve pain, tension and stress in addition to promoting deep relaxation and durable healing for chronic conditions.
Swedish Massage: This is a gentle form of massage, addressing superficial layers of muscle tissues, warming up the body, stimulating blood flow and circulation, and bringing mind and body into a state of ease and relaxation.
Deep Tissue Massage: This slow and specific tissue work integrates myofascial release and addresses the deep layers of muscle tissue. Highly effective in releasing muscle tightness, lengthening muscle fibers, and undoing the body’s holding patterns, deep tissue massage provides long lasting benefits.
Zen Shiatsu: Based, like acupuncture, on Traditional Chinese Medecine, Shiatsu uses both pressure point therapy and stretching. Releasing muscle stiffness and rebalancing the energy flow throughout the body, Shiatsu stimulates pressure points related to specific internal organs. Deeply relaxing, it is also a powerful health enhancer, reinforcing the body’s natural self-healing potential.
Trigger Point: Addressing sore spots throughout the body by applying direct downward pressure, Trigger Point therapy is an approach that brings both relief and stimulation.
Pregnancy Massage: Supporting the specific needs that arise in pregnancy, this form of massage generally involves lying sideways supported by pillows or lying on one's back. The emphasis here is usually on stimulating circulation and on hip and lower-back work.
Proprioceptice Neuromuscular Facilitation: This form of facilitated stretching dramatically improves joint flexibility.
